1. Roles and Responsibilities
The role of the Staff Care Technical Officer is to provide non-clinical support to NRC staff, to support NRC Human Resources in implementing its Staff Care obligations, and to provide trainings and awareness sessions for staff in order to improve their capacity to recognize and manage work related stress.
Generic responsibilities 
-Management of project staff
-Implement plan of action for delegated portfolio of support function’s projects (activities, budget and project documentation).
-Day to day follow of progress in project implementation.
- Ensure adherence and compliance with NRC policies, support function tools, handbooks and guidelines.
- Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and asses new and better ways to assist.
- Promote and share ideas for technical improvement.
- Prepare periodic progress reports and other documents.
- Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer of key skills.
- Liaison and collaborate with relevant local authorities and stakeholders.
- Promote the rights of internally displaced/returnees In line with the advocacy strategy.
- Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards & principles within NRC and amongst beneficiaries served by NRC.
Specific responsibilities
- Serve as the focal point within NRC Jordan for the Staff Care Programme
- Refer staff to psychosocial support providers as needed while keeping high level of confidentiality.

- Provide counselling, stress management, and critical incident interventions as necessary
- Suggest and implement initiatives and processes that contribute to a high-performing
department and organization such as team building and other activities.
- Review the psychosocial support providers’ agreements, receive staff feedback on the current
providers and coordinate with the management for any changes as needed.
- Provide capacity building trainings for staff and managers, to enable them to fulfil their Staff
Care responsibilities
-Provide ongoing individual or group non-clinical support for field staff that provides staff with
a confidential, safe and supportive environment, to critically reflect on their professional
practice and on the impact of their work on themselves
- Monitor and lead NRC’s peer support network and provide training as needed.
- Conduct staff care induction for new staff.
Critical Interfaces
By interfaces, NRC means processes and projects that are interlinked with other
departments/units or persons. Relevant interfaces for this position are
- Budget holders
- Technical advisors/support (MERO)
Others:
· Working closely with staff, line managers and peer support staff in each NRC location
· Coordinate with line managers, peer support staff, and psychosocial support providers to
ensure necessary channels are established in order to provide support/referral when and
how it is required.
· Coordinate with the Staff Care Adviser in Oslo and the MERO HR Advisers.

2. Competencies
Competencies are important in order for the employee and the organisation to deliver desired
results. They are relevant for all staff and are divided into the following two categories:

Generic professional competencies for this position:
· Experience from working within technical expertise area in a humanitarian/ recovery
context.
· Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.

Context/specific skills, knowledge and experience:
Qualification requirement: Bachelor degree or equivalent
Years of Experience: 3
· Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Psychology, social work, counselling or related field,
· 2. Minimum of 3 years’ experience from working in the field of mental health and
psychosocial support within an organization/company with at least 200 staff, preferably in a
humanitarian/recovery context
· 3. Experience in group and individual counselling
· 4. Experience in facilitating Mental Health Psychosocial Support trainings
· 5. Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
· 6. Fluency in Arabic and English, both written and verbal
