Sales Support Specialist

Purpose & Accountability

 

  • Lead local activities aligned with Campaigns & Initiatives to create demand and deliver the yearly targets (e.g. market share, sales budget) through effective execution in respective sales areas
  • Establish high customer intimacy through understanding growers & channel needs and supporting customers to increase demand for Syngenta solutions
  • Provide regular field reports to ensure on-time competition monitoring & build market intelligence, systematic recording of customer visits & contribute to grower segmentation & influencers reporting

Actively contribute and implement selected initiatives to support the mid to long-term growth agenda for selected attractive businesses defined in the 5 Year-Plan & Strategy

Operational Responsibilities

  • Generate demand with approximately 80% time dedicated on generating pull through execution of campaigns (e.g. field activities, visits to KAs, F2F to A-Farmers, interactions with influencers)
  • Ensure effective translation of the Campaigns & selected Initiatives in the implementation of pull activities with Key Accounts (KA) to support the realization of business targets
  • Build solid and professional relationships based on recognized expertise and trust with relevant stakeholders
  • Weekly reporting in prescribed format about business situation incl. market environment
  • Collect and analyse market information and share to feed the Business Intelligence data base (e.g. Salesforce.com for short-term, portfolio insights, I-Plan updates)
  • Identify areas for growth and provide innovative alternatives with business focus to contribute in the evolution of the Go-to-Market strategy and ensure its implementation country per country through the KA Plans
  • Facilitate communications with the Sales Support Specialists in their respective regions to ensure overall coordination of activities and alignment with Campaigns and KA PlansOverarching Responsibilities 
  • Ensure that all relevant Syngenta processes and policies are well understood and followed, where necessary, by customers
  • Ensure compliance with HSE requirements, local legislation and competition law

Promote the image of Syngenta and actively develop relationships with selected influencers

 

  • Sound knowledge of crop agronomy, crop protection, grower techniques
  • Understanding and driving of commercial strategy, marketing principles
  • Strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills

Shaping demands of key stakeholders

Critical knowledge

  • Master or Bachelor degree in agribusiness and marketing
  • Strong understanding of customer needs, structure and business drivers
  • Understanding of competitive environment, product management for main crops in the scope
  • Agribusiness experience: knowledge of cropping practices and crop protection products

Critical Experience

 

  • 5 years in agronomy / marketing experience / solid technically
  • Sales and channel management experience
  • Familiar with the local area and knowledge of the business environment

Critical technical, professional and personal capabilities

  • Broad knowledge of agronomy (e.g. crop understanding, ag technology, seeds and crop protection)
  • Understanding of marketing core principles (e.g. difference pull/push, 4Ps, campaign management)
  • Logical and process oriented thinking
  • Strong leadership, influencing, teamwork and project management skills
  • Exposure to Internal Systems such as I-Plan, Salesforce.com
  • Self-motivation, strong result oriented mind set
