Duties

 

The Supply Clerk is one of three (3) Supply Clerks in the General Services Office (GSO) Property and Supply section at the U.S. Embassy in Amman, Jordan.  Primary responsibilities include performing general supply, clerical, and warehouse tasks in the GSO-Property section.  

 

Assists with the receiving, storage, and inventory of official U.S. government supplies and equipment, including residential and office furniture and appliances, office supplies, computers, mobile phones, tablets, printers, copiers, scanners, highly-sophisticated IT equipment, and mechanical machinery and tools.  Conducts spot inventories to match against receiving, inventory and issuance documents and records.

 

The Supply Clerk will report directly to the Locally Employed (LE) Staff Property and Supply Supervisor and will be reviewed by the U.S. Assistant General Services Officer (A/GSO) supervising the Property and Warehouse portfolio.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: at least two years of general supply, inventory system, warehousing experience and/or clerical experience is required. 

 

JOB KNOWLEDGE: General knowledge of supply, warehousing, and inventory practices including use of warehouse material, handling equipment, and tools required.  Prior experience in the proper use of a trolley jack, how to load a truck or warehouse space in safe position, and how to store objects efficiently and safely preferred, but not required.  Basic knowledge of inventory and data systems used for inventory is required.  Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer service is required.  Within six months of hire, must fully understand all have U.S. Department of State regulations governing the handling and accounting of physical U.S. government property. 

Education Requirements:

Completion of High School (Tawjihi) is required.

Evaluations:

 

 

LANGUAGE:  "Good Working Knowledge" in English and  "Fluent" in Arabic Reading/Writing/ Speaking is required. English proficiency will be tested

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must hold a level 3 Jordanian driver’s license.  Skills such as manual lifting and operating material handling equipment preferred.  Math skills sufficient to count stock, verify inventory computations, and investigate discrepancies.  Basic knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.  Impeccable integrity, strong initiative, excellent communication skills – both verbal and written communications – and sound judgment.
